This project, currently in design development for a site in Kits Point, is a new single family residence. The house and garden are contemporary in design and have a scale and expression well-suited to their neighbourhood. The house has abundant daylight, a generous and efficient layout, and low energy consumption.
The primary bedrooms are at grade level with the master bedroom opening up completely to a landscaped garden space. The main living space is on the upper floor and connects closely with a roof deck providing distant views of the mountains. Daylight is carefully controlled using skylights and abundant glazing at the front and back. These glazing elements create a rhythm of light and shadow that defines the space.
Exterior sunshades on the east and west exposures reduce solar heat gain in the summer. Well-insulated and air tight walls are part of a comprehensive approach to energy efficiency and comfort.
