Architects: DIALOG (Andrew Larigakis led the team on this project while at DIALOG).
This play structure was designed for the 2012 Canfor Playhouse Challenge at the Pacific National Exhibition. Called the Whirl, the structure celebrates the energy and movement of children at play. Made with FSC cedar donated by Western Forest Products and stainless steel from Aggressive Tube Bending, construction was mostly done by Stuart Olson Dominion Construction. After the end of the PNE, the Whirl was auctioned off to a corporate donor with the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. The structure itself was moved to a permanent home at the Centre for Childhood Development in Nanaimo.
